Still get 0.We've been working on capturing degree videos since back before the "vertical slice" build of Hellblade went out for review, and the first scene we ever fully captured in stereoscopic was the in-engine cinematic that was used for our first playable build cinematic intro.
Originally we were writing our own in-house monoscopic capture system that was based on cubic capture, projection onto a sphere and subsequent warping for the final image.
While this worked fine, due to the monoscopic nature of it everything felt "huge" and it didn't manage to portray any sense of intimacy with the subject of the videos, you felt like a distant observer rather than having a sense of presence within the scene, despite it being all around you. My thinking on why monoscopic footage tends to lose a sense of scale and feel huge is that it's one of those subconscious things that your brain evaluates on your behalf.
It can tell you have no stereoscopic convergence, and no parallax from head movements, so the object must be very far away. It then combines that information with the fact that the object fills a large part of your view and the subsequent feeling you get is that the object is very, very large and very far away. Try it for yourself, capturing out a stereo and monoscopic frame. When you switch back and forth you'll notice that not only do you lose the sense of depth, but you lose all sense of scale, too, and objects tend toward being enormous.
At about this point we started to investigate whether we could generate left and right eyes with appropriate offsets to generate true stereoscopic images, and in the process we stumbled across the stereoscopic capture plugin provided by the Kite and Lightning devs. At this point it was basically just up on GitHub and not part of the UE4 distribution, but these days it comes "out of the box" with Unreal Engine 4 and I strongly encourage you to check it out.

Enabling the "Stereo Panoramic Movie Capture" plugin and doing a quick test capture:. Note: You may also need to quickly 'build' again, depending on whether you've got local changes in your branch, as the plugin dll shipped might be 'stale.
This plugin has several settings available that you can toggle via console commands, but before we get into that you should do a quick test capture to make sure things are working as expected with default settings. Open the command console and set SP. OutputDir with an appropriate folder where you want to dump output images, e. At this point you'll probably experience a nice long expect a minute or so hitch after which two images will be dumped into the directory you specified with SP.
OutputDir above well actually under a date-and-time directory within that directory ; one for the left eye and one for the right eye. Take a quick look at them to make sure that everything is there as-expected. Don't worry too much about if there are artefacts like banding at the moment, as we'll try to address those later on although some effects such as light shafts don't work, being screen-space effects - we'll cover that more later, too.
Code changes to get both the left and right eyes to be combined into a single image automatically. If this applies to you and you're happy to get your hands dirty in the code, then here's a quick and not specifically optimised bit of code to combine the left and right eyes before outputting the image.
Define a control variable to allow you to toggle between combined and not combined. GetDataSphericalAtlas. Then add some new code to combine the eyes and output a single image; in USceneCapturer::Tick, find the line. You can open the RecordedSequence asset and begin editing it as you would a normal Level Sequence. Below is our recorded sequence, to which we could add cameras, and a Camera Cuts track to provide multiple angles, music, effects, or anything else we'd like to add. We could even take this sequence and embed it in other sequences as part of a Shots Track. In addition to recording gameplay, you can record your actions during level editing by assigning an Actor to Record.
Above, we have placed a cube in our level and instructed the Sequence Recorder to record the cube. We then moved the cube around and the Sequence Recorder captured the movements we entered through keyframes in a newly created Level Sequence. When we play back our Level Sequence, a new Cube Actor is created as a spawnable in the Level Sequence, which is why a second Cube appears when the sequence is active.

I'm printing the envelope value and it behaves as it should. Similar story with the Audio Capture Component -- the envelope reacts as expected. The next step would be to write a custom Source Effect to add to the chain which would receive and process the captured audio. The problem is that in both cases I can hear the captured audio out of my speakers. I assume all this audio is being consumed by the new audio mixer and output as a normal sound.
This is not my intended behavior -- I want to capture this audio for processing onlyand not output it to the final mix. I've tried muting the sound but anything that quiets the sound also affects the detected envelope.
If I'm understanding correctly, this makes sense -- anything connected to the source effect chain needs real audio to 'hear', but I basically want to kill the sound immediately after the source effect chain is processed and before it enters the rest of the sound system to be processed spatialized, etc and output. Am I barking up the wrong tree completely?
I can't help but think that even if I zeroed out the audio in the source effect, there is a considerable amount of unnecessary processing happening for what could be a simple capture straight to memory. It may be that since I only want to capture and not play back audio, avoiding a synth component and going straight for platform-dependent capture is the cleanest route. I looked briefly at Audio Recording Manager, but it seems steeped in Sequencer and intended for output to a file, which is not what I'm after.

Working with Audio in Unreal
To emphasize the feeling of relaxation, the first thing you will do is play some calm piano music. Go to the Content Browser and navigate to the Audio folder. Here, you will find all the sounds you will use in this tutorial. You can listen to them by hovering over their icon and then clicking the play icon that appears. Playing music is as simple as dragging and dropping the sound asset into the Viewport. However, the music will only play once. This is because you need to manually enable looping within the asset.
A new window with a single Details panel will appear. Go to the Sound Wave section and enable Looping. Press Play to listen to the music.
After 17 seconds the length of the musicit will loop and play again. Next, you will add a sound effect whenever the muffin takes a step. To do this, you will use an Animation Notify. An Animation Notify allows you to trigger an event at a specific point in an animation. You can use them in many different ways. For example, you could create a Notify to spawn a particle effect. In this game, the restart button appears as soon as the muffin touches the ground.
However, using a Notify, you could make it appear at the end of the death animation. This will open the Animation editor. In the panel below the Viewport, you will see an area called Notifies. The light grey area is a Notify Track. This is where you will create and manage your Notifies. Frame 10 and frame 22 are when each foot hits the ground so you will need to create a Notify at both of these points. This will create a Notify called PlaySound.
